Financial education for family enterprises

Built on Trust, Grown Through Generations

We started helping Tasmanian families manage their finances back in 1997. Three decades later, we're still doing the same thing—just with more experience and a few grey hairs to show for it.

A Kitchen Table Start

Honestly, we didn't set out to build a financial services firm. It started with Rhys helping a neighbour sort through superannuation paperwork at the kitchen table. Word got around. Soon enough, more people were asking for help.

By early 1998, what began as informal advice sessions turned into something more structured. We rented a small office on Murray Street—actually, the same building we're in now, just a different floor. Back then it was just Rhys, one part-time assistant, and a filing system that barely worked.

The interesting thing about those early years? We learned that most people don't need complicated investment strategies. They need someone who listens, explains things clearly, and doesn't disappear when markets get rough. That philosophy stuck with us.

What Keeps Us Going

These aren't just nice words we put on the wall. They're principles we actually use when making decisions—even the uncomfortable ones.

Straight Talk

Financial jargon exists to confuse people. We explain things like we're talking to our own family members—because often, we are. No fancy terms unless they're actually necessary.

Long View

Quick wins are tempting, but they rarely work out long-term. We'd rather help you build something sustainable that works through market ups and downs. Boring beats flashy every time.

Local Focus

We know the Hobart market because we live here. Our kids go to school here, we shop at the same places you do. That local knowledge matters when planning for property, education, and retirement.

How We Work

No Cookie-Cutter Plans

  • 1

    Real Conversation First

We spend the first meeting just talking. What matters to you? What keeps you up at night? Where do you want to be in five years? No forms, no sales pitch—just listening.

  • 2

    Build Something Specific

Based on that conversation, we put together a plan that actually fits your situation. Not a template we pulled from a drawer. Your circumstances are unique, so your financial strategy should be too.

  • 3

    Stay Connected

Life changes. Markets shift. We check in regularly—not to upsell you on something new, but to make sure your plan still makes sense. Sometimes we adjust. Sometimes we leave things alone.

Who You'll Actually Work With

We're small on purpose. When you call, you get someone who knows your situation—not a call centre script reader.

Been with welyncarosa since 2003, which makes her practically part of the furniture. Bev's specialty is helping people transition into retirement without panicking about money. She's walked hundreds of clients through that nerve-wracking final decade before leaving work, and she's really good at explaining what's actually risky versus what just feels risky. Outside work, she's obsessed with her vegetable garden and will absolutely show you photos if you ask.
